Hassleblad has released a 200 megapixel camera that’ll run its owner $45,000. I’m fascinated by this — not because of the amazing technology or the equally amazing price tag, but because I have no idea who exactly needs this. Obviously it’s intended for professional photographers but even after going through the Hassleblad User Showcase I can’t come up with many situations where one might need a sensor this big. Is it just so you can blow up a photograph to 30 feet to hang on a gallery wall? Or is there some actual practical advantage I’m unaware of?
